England.
For those few who have missed the cut and
thrust of the auld enemy versus the Scots, I can
report that the English gave them a serious
drubbing on 12 June when the two sides met for
the spring meeting and, as the song goes, “sent
them home to think again”. See report

Medieval Banquet
The celebration of St. George’s Day  was marked
by a Medieval Banquet at the Mandarin Oriental
Hotel Jakarta.
The evening's programme was hailed by Ye Old
town crier and those in attendance were
entertained by the multi-talented court jesters
and jugglers. A fantastic evening was enjoyed by
all and who can forget the fabulous
entertainment served up by the jousting
competition!  The Ambassador Martin Hatfull's
talented oration was well received and added a
fine touch of culture to an otherwise rowdy
evening. To see full report click

St. George Resurrected in Jakarta

After a hiatus lasting a number of years, the Jakarta Branch of the
Royal Society of St. George (RSSG) has been resurrected. The 2010
AGM of the RSSG was held on Saturday 6th February at the BWA
House on Pejaten Barat. About 30 people attended the event and
agreed that the RSSG should be resurrected to (i) organise events to
celebrate major English events, (ii) to provide a focal point for English
interaction with the Irish, Scottish and Welsh Loyal Societies in Jakarta
and (iii) to undertake charitable works. Before the beer and wine had
flowed too freely the following were elected as the Officers of the
Society for 2010…

Rex Whistler                 President
